Brooklyn Elementary School Implements Safety Reforms After a Child Brought Unloaded Gun

The Department of Education says that P.S. 158 has an extra school safety agent and a camera-based door locking system.

Some security changes are coming to P.S. 158 in Brooklyn weeks after one student brought an unloaded gun to the elementary school. Parent Kayla McNeil says she and others did not send their children to school today to take a stance after that gun was found on school grounds on March 7. Councilmember Christopher Banks, city school officials and parents had a town hall earlier this week to discuss solutions to the safety problem.
