Brooklyn Couple Postpones Wedding, Hosts Bar Night to Support Victims of Hurricane Helene

Once they announced the fundraiser, the owners of Whiskey Annex said people and businesses started donating items that could be raffled off to raise more money.

Hundreds of people gathered at Whiskey Annex on Berry Street for a fundraiser organized by a Brooklyn couple who grew up in the Asheville, N.C. area. They were supposed to be married in North Carolina on Oct. 19 but had to postpone it due to the devastation from Helene. As news of the devastation poured in, Molly Frye and Joel Brown quickly started reaching out to their vendors. Brown, who is a partner at the bar, said “We kind of felt useless being here, when all this was going on with our family and community where we grew up.” Click here to read more on pix11.com.
