The Family Health Centers at NYU Langone on Wednesday hosted a breast cancer awareness campaign at the Women’s Health Center in Sunset Park.
The event provided critical community resources, free educational resources, health screenings and giveaways in the fight against breast cancer, according to a press release.
Dr. Meleen Chuang, medical director of Women’s Health at the Family Health Center, emphasized the importance of early detection and addressing health disparities.
"The campaign seeks to empower the community with knowledge but also emphasizes the role awareness and education play in combating breast cancer," she said. "We strive to make a difference in our community every day. We are passionate about providing the highest quality care and ensuring that all individuals have access to vital screenings and resources."
Larry K. McReynolds, executive director of the Family Health Centers at NYU Langone, emphasized the center’s commitment to improving health outcomes in the community.
“With the increasing number of breast cancer diagnoses in our borough, it is crucial to provide accessible care and education to reduce disparities,” he stated.
The Family Health Centers at NYU Langone is one of the largest Federally Qualified Health Center networks in New York, dedicated to bringing primary and preventive care to underserved residents.
