CenterLight Healthcare's Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) recently hosted a Carribean Carnival at its newly-established Bushwick facility.
In commemoration of its soft opening, the event at CenterLight Healthcare’s Bushwick PACE Center featured colorful feathers, decorated masks, music, food, dancing and more, according to a press release.
The event also featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Bushwick PACE Center, with the center's president and chief executive officer Tara Buonocore-Rut in attendance to celebrate the facility’s opening.
“PACE is a model of care that everyone should have access to,” said Buonocore-Rut. “We are on that journey to expand access to PACE and make sure that people have access to social activities and all their healthcare needs all under one roof.”
Also attending the event was NYC Councilwoman Mercedes Narcisse, who — along with her staff — took the opportunity to learn more about PACE and the resources it offers to elderly New Yorkers.
“We need this kind of model in New York City… We cannot forget those that invested their time and paved the way for us,” said Narcisse.
Centerlight Healthcare PACE serves adults 55 years of age and older throughout New York City, Westchester, Nassau, and Western Suffolk counties.
Centerlight’s initiative, which is one of the largest nonprofit PACE programs in the U.S., aims to empower older New Yorkers to live independently by providing a variety of services at its 11 PACE centers.
Among the services offered at these centers include on-site socialization, social and personal care services, therapeutic recreation, meals, and transportation, to name a few.
