The summer edition of NYC Restaurant Week is kicking off Monday with 48 Brooklyn restaurants participating in this year's event.

Whatever your political leaning, you can thank the Democrats for the food-fest, which was first created in 1992 as a one-time culinary event to welcome the Democratic National Convention.

In 2023, the summer edition of restaurant week is running for almost a month, from July 24 through Aug. 20. During this time, Brooklyn diners will have the opportunity to try special prix fixe two-course lunches and three-course dinners for as little as $30, $45 or $60.

Reservations are now open and MasterCard owners are eligible for an extra discount at some restaurants. Saturdays do not apply and Sundays are at the discretion of each restaurant.

Read on for BK Reader's 10 picks for where to grab a great deal in Brooklyn this Restaurant Week.

Sweet Catch (Prospect Lefferts Gardens)

Prospect Lefferts Gardens' Sweet Catch is offering a three-course seafood spread for $60 that includes the options of Thomas Downing broiled oysters; fried lobster, shrimp and corncake waffles and cinnamon raison bread pudding. BK Reader has tried — and highly recommends — the fried lobster waffles.

The inspiration behind Sweet Catch is the cuisine of the Gullah Geechee people — the descendants of enslaved Africans who settled in the coastal American South. Expect seaside decor and a fun, upbeat ambiance along with summery cocktails.

Morgan’s Brooklyn Barbecue (Prospect Heights)

Morgan's is the Texas-style barbecue spot in Prospect Heights (think brisket, pulled pork and ribs) with one of the best restaurant week deals on offer. It's doing a $30 pre fixe lunch and a $30 three-course pre fixe dinner.

On the menu: smokey queso and chips, smoked wings, ribs, a brisket burger and peach pie - yum!

Kokomo (Williamsburg)

Kokomo, the super-cool Caribbean eatery known for its fun brunches, is offering a $60 three-course pre fixe menu deal for restaurant week.

For the pescatarians, BK Reader recommends starting with the coconut curry mussels, followed by Koko's Island Pasta. Pair with one of Kokomo's $15 cocktail specials: a coconut martini or berry gimlet.

Kru (Greenpoint)

Not a spot for an average Pad Thai, this Thai restaurant prides itself on recreating and reimagining historic dishes from ancient recipes, with Chef Ohm Suansilphong saying these sorts of dishes are rarely served in the U.S.

Kru is offering a $45 dinner and $30 Sunday lunch/brunch pre fixe menu that includes a crab curry deviled egg, a steak tartare and a delicious-sounding curried rice stuffed in branzino fish.

MáLà Project (Greenpoint)

MáLà Project — which opened its original location in the East Village — now has a Greenpoint outpost, and it's participating in Restaurant Week! The restaurant specializes in Chinese dry pot and is known for its fiery Sichuan dishes, which helped it make NY Mag's list of the 1,000 best eateries in the city.

The restaurant is offering a great deal with a $30 lunch and $45 dinner, also available Sundays. Choose from a range of dumplings, fried rice, noodles, pork belly and more.

Tiny’s Cantina (Prospect Heights)

For your Mexican kick this Restaurant Week, try Tiny’s Cantina, which serves contemporary cuisine rooted in Mexican flavors, and makes its own tortillas in-house.

Tiny's has some of the best bang-for-your-buck this restaurant week, offering a $30 three-course pre fixe dinner and $30 pre fixe lunch/brunch. We have our eyes on the churro sundae for dessert.

BKLYN Larder (Park Slope)

BKLYN Larder is a cheese, meat and provisions shop that has been serving sandwiches and prepared foods since 2009. It offers a mouth-watering range of picnic items and ready-to-eat meals, and has a killer cheese and charcuterie selection.

For restaurant week, BKLYN Larder is offering a $45 pre fixe lunch or dinner, and Sundays are included. The starter is a platter of artisanal cheeses, house made crostini, olive oil roasted almonds, jam, and dried fruit... need we say more?

Tanoreen (Bay Ridge)

This award-winning Middle Eastern eatery in Bay Ridge is a must-try. Tanoreen opened in 1998 as a ten-table storefront in Brooklyn and has since grown thanks to the popularity of its Middle Eastern food with Palestinian roots.

Tanoreen is offering a $45 lunch and a $60 dinner. The menu has not been shared ahead of time, but think hummus, tagine, eggplant musaka and rich stews with a focus on veggies like squash and Jerusalem artichoke.

The Ariapita (Flatbush)

The Ariapita is a new Trinbagonian (cuisine of Trinidad and Tobago) restaurant and rum shop in Flatbush from chef Osei "Picky" Blackett.

The restaurant says, unlike typical Caribbean food, which leans toward Jamaican classics, here you'll find curries and items like bhaji (leafy greens in coconut milk). The Ariapita is offering a $45 prix fixe dinner and a $30 Sunday lunch/brunch.
