Jeanette Bigelson, a Coney Island resident, turned 105 on Feb. 7, surrounded by her friends.
Celebrating her birthday at JASA’s Luna Park Older Adult Center, Bigelson enjoyed some cake, a live DJ and a Latin dance performance, according to a press release.
“The people here are more than my friends - they’re my family," Bigelson said of her friends and staff at the community center, where she has lunched and painted almost every day for the last seven years.
Her birthday celebration also featured special recognitions from the office of Council Member Justin Brannan and state Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton.
Bigelson credits her long life to not smoking, an occasional drink and her ability to not hold grudges. "If you have any grievances, if you have any hate, get over it!"
