For the 10th year in a row, the Brooklyn Bookstore Crawl is returning to celebrate literacy and diversity in the borough from Saturday, April 20, through Saturday, April 27.

Anyone can pick up a Bookstore Crawl passport at participating bookstores and collect signatures or stamps by visiting participating bookstores throughout the week, according to a news release.

Customers who visit at least five participating stores with the passport will receive a 25% off coupon good on any single purchase at any participating store.

In celebration of the Brooklyn Bookstore Crawl, the Center for Fiction will host the Bookstore Crawl Afterparty from 5 pm to 7 pm on April 27, with opportunities to win additional prizes including bookstore swag, as well as music, refreshments and camaraderie with fellow book lovers.

“Our hope for the Bookstore Crawl is that readers will take the opportunity not only to support the stores they love, but also to discover something new – a neighborhood, a genre, a bookstore space that they might not have visited before,” said Jessica Stockton-Bagnulo, owner of Greenlight Bookstore and one of the organizers of the Bookstore Crawl. “Brooklyn has a truly incredible diversity of bookstores, and they all need the support of the readers who value them. The families and friend groups having fun trekking across the borough during this week in April are also making it possible for Brooklyn’s literary culture to thrive for years to come.”

The Bookstore Crawl culminates with Independent Bookstore Day, a one-day national party that takes place at indie bookstores across the country on the last Saturday in April. In addition to visiting authors, live music, treats, kids events, readings and contests, there are exclusive books and literary items that are only available on that day.
