Discover Atrium82™: A Versatile Venue Transforming Fitness and Weddings

Tucked away in a second-story Park Slope is the uniquely designed miniature wedding venue and event space for wellness businesses and intimate gatherings.

Tucked away in a second-story Park Slope brownstone is Atrium82, a uniquely designed, Black-woman-owned venue that serves as a micro-wedding and event space for wellness businesses and intimate gatherings.

Owned and operated by Nundiah-Danielle Edwards, Atrium82 opened in 2020, following the closure of her fitness studio, The New Body Project, which previously occupied the same space.

After COVID-19 restrictions were lifted, Edwards saw an opportunity to expand beyond fitness, transforming the space into a gathering hub at a time when people were eager to reconnect. Atrium82 quickly evolved from hosting baby showers for clients to becoming a premier micro-wedding venue, accommodating wedding parties of up to 30 guests.

“They [guests] always say, ‘I always walk past this and never knew that it was this,’” Edwards shared. “When they walk in, their jaw drops—they’re extremely floored by the beauty, how well it's taken care of, and how seamlessly it transforms.”

Edwards hosts wedding parties primarily on weekends, offering a variety of wedding-style dinner receptions and ceremony options. Clients can schedule a walk-through to explore the space and receive recommendations for local wedding vendors specializing in catering and decor. Edwards, who is also an ordained minister, often officiates the weddings held in her venue.

Built with the support of her community, Atrium82 serves as a hub for small businesses. Edwards credits her success to the much-needed support she received from friends, family, and even strangers after losing her job in the financial field, which ultimately led to the creation of The New Body Project and, eventually, Atrium82.

Throughout the week, Atrium82 hosts fitness classes and rents the space to local businesses with which Edwards has cultivated strong relationships over time. One such partner is Kimberly Huggins, co-owner of Kimbritive, a sexual wellness and reproductive health hub for Black women.

HHuggins frequently uses Atrium82 for her quarterly community health education event, "Paps on Taps."

“When we decided to do in-person events, we were really intentional about wanting to find a Black-woman-owned venue in Brooklyn,” Hugginstold BK Reader. “We also wanted to be in a space that’s familiar with wellness topics, or just sort of already a staple in the community for wellness. So coming across Atrium82, just a beautiful location in itself, I felt like it really spoke to what we wanted, which was to create a space that feels like a home for people.”

Huggins added that one of her favorite aspects of working at Atrium82 is the creative freedom it offers when designing her workshops. For her events, she collaborates with a production company to bring her vision to life, a service available to all guests who use the space.

Atrium82 provides hands-on support for any wellness business or wedding hosted within its walls, continuing to serve as a versatile and welcoming environment for the Park Slope community.
