BKLYN Commons, an innovative business hub located in Brooklyn, announced that it will be hosting its seventh annual Open Desk: Small Business Pop-Up event on Nov. 16, 2023.
Taking place in Flatbush, the upcoming event focuses on empowering small businesses and fostering collaboration in the community.
This year’s pop-up endeavor will once again feature a marketplace that showcases unique products and services of local small businesses, giving Brooklynites the opportunity to connect with several passionate entrepreneurs.
In addition to the marketplace, the event has several activities planned, including a business pitch competition with a cash prize; a speed networking event; as well as the first-ever MWBE Certification Prep Clinic, which provides minority business owners with the opportunity to apply to become certified NYC vendors.
Open Desk 2023 will also offer free blood pressure and diabetes screenings for attendees, along with CPR training sign-up opportunities for merchants in-attendance — which is a requirement for small business owners in the state of New York.
During the same week of the pop-up market event, BKLYN Commons is set to launch its new Common Ground initiative on Nov. 18, 2023.
Taking place over the course of 16 consecutive weekends, Common Ground is a new venture that provides support to struggling businesses that are affected by recent challenges such as climate change, rising inflation and soaring rent, among others.
BKLYN Commons says that vendor applications for Common Ground are currently available for local artisans, small business owners and service providers.
Tickets for BKLYN Commons’ seventh annual Open Desk: Small Business Pop-Up can be reserved online for free at Eventbrite.
