The summer sports season will be on fire later this week, as the Paris Olympics will commence on Friday, July 26.

The opening ceremony is scheduled to be broadcast on NBC starting 1:30pm, and you should bookmark the network's daily broadcast schedule, as coverage will be spread through numerous channels, including CNBC, USA and the streaming service Peacock.

Tennis star Coco Gauff and basketball great LeBron James will be the flag bearers for the U.S. Olympic team. But don't forget to cheer on the local Olympians, which include fencer Anne Cebula, a Bensonhurst native.

Whether you're a track and field, gymnastics, climbing or BMX fan, there's something for everyone to watch during the Olympics, but perhaps the world will be tuning into whether the swimming competitions will actually happen in the Seine River, which reportedly took about $1.5 billion to clean up. (There is a indoor backup venue should the organizers deem the river to be too dirty.)

If you're looking for some company to watch some of the 329 medal events, there are plenty of options in Brooklyn. Here are five places to check out:

1. Bk Backyard Bar - 86 N.11th St., Brooklyn, NY 11249

Formerly known as TailGate Brooklyn, the 24,000-square-foot backyard has enough space for everyone, including pets! With over 25 TVs, various seating sections (including picnic tables and private cabanas), this bar can handle a crowd. There's a 50% off any bar drink special happening Monday through Thursday from 5pm to 7pm, and their signature cocktail right now is dubbed the Olympian, made with Liquor 43, pineapple juice, lemonade, and peach schnapps ($14).

2. The Dram Shop Bar - 339 9th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11215

This Park Slope bar is a neighborhood staple when it comes to viewing sports and the Olympics will be no different. So grab some chicken wings and nachos and settle in for some good competition at a friendly neighborhood joint. Good news for those who are gluten free; the bar now has gluten-free buns for their sandwiches and burgers.

3. The Swan - 1048 Bedford Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11205

The bar loves streaming soccer, the New York Rangers and the New York Knicks so they're sure to embrace some Olympic action! Many of the online reviews say the food portions are HUGE at this Bedford Stuyvesant bar, so best to come on an empty stomach.

4. Bull's Eye Sports Pub - 2073 Flatbush Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11234

If you're looking for cheap beers to accompany your sports, then head straight to this bar near Avenue P. A bucket (5 beers) of 12 oz. Pabst Blue Ribbon is $12.50; domestic beer buckets are $17.50; and import buckets are $22.50. The Flatlands bar also hosts regular bingo nights, a darts league, and invites former professional sports players for autograph sessions, including Mets and Yankees great Dwight "Doc" Gooden.

5. The Clonard - 506 Grand St., Brooklyn, NY 11211

Craving a pint of Guinness while watching rugby or basketball? Head to this friendly Irish pub in Williamsburg, known to serve up some tasty dishes like curry fries (Irish curry and cheese) and bangers and mash (Irish sausages, mash potato, onion gravy).
