It's the first weekend of the summer, which means that summer is officially here. Which probably means it's gonna be a snowstorm, which probably means the subway is going to have more delays, which probably means you'll end up getting an Uber. Which probably means you'll get to your event early, which probably means you'll bump into your friend's boyfriend on a tinder date with some THOTed up nail technician. Which probably means you'll throw a drink on his head, which probably means you'll get kicked out of the club, which probably means your phone battery will be dead. Which probably means you'll get some ice cream, a six pack of beer and just go home!
So the moral of the story is: don't let summer defeat you. It can frustrate you because it's so much to do and so little time on the weekend - leaving you stuck with too many options, like you're in front of a huge menu at a Greek diner. Or it could be too hot to go outside, you already start sweating when you think about taking out the trash. Don't let the summer put your electric bill on steroids either! Cool down without an AC this summer, which is good for your electric bill and your carbon footprint! Either way, this is the first weekend of summer, so get out there and beat the heat in the streets.

This is a fun dance party from The NYC Grind, who present events and parties, and offer a platform to give artists of various mediums exposure and to build community amongst artists. They're doing this summer party at Bishop Gallery on Bedford Avenue, so expect an art party in an art gallery. It's done in conjunction with I Love You Fun. Lot's of dancing and turnt energy from start to finish.
Punky Reggae Party, The People's Garden, Greene Ave & Broadway, Saturday, 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm, free, (Bed Stuy)

The Soul Rebels featuring Talib Kweli, Pharoah Monch & Kirk Knight - Celebrate Brooklyn, Prospect Park Bandshell, Saturday, 7:00 pm, free
This is going to be an all out jammie jam! The Soul Rebels is a dope arse brass band from New Orleans that jump from genre to genre with a lot of funk in tow! They'll be joined by Talib Kweli, Pharaohe Monch and Kirk Knight, who will be forming a one-two punch with the band. An opening set by Goapele and a DJ set from Natasha Diggs brilliantly rounds out the night - definitely not to be missed! Gates open at 6:00 pm and the show starts at 7:00 pm. After Celebrate Brooklyn in Prospect Park, Talib Kweli joins the Pure Magic party, by Jahmed Kinsey and William Ellis, for a dope DJ set in the spacious and newly renovated backyard of Brooklyn Tap House. This is a good party with an audience of good looking people. It's also a BBQ in the backyard, so good looking people with BBQ sauce all over their face and fingers. Pool Party, Pizza Party, 254 Irving Ave, Sunday, 2:00 pm - 9:00 pm, free (Bushwick)
Pizza Party is the name of a bar on Irving Avenue in Bushwick that serves pizza, house- made in their coal oven.
So a pool party at Pizza Party has a peculiar ring to it, but trust me, it's a fun party. It's in the backyard, which is also the backyard of a residential apartment, through which you kinda have to walk through to get back there. It's a good size pool, a full bar, lounge area, games and fun.

The Cyclone's 90th Birthday, Luna Park, 1000 Surf Avenue, Sunday, 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm, free (Coney Island)
The Cyclone is old and like a 90-year-old person, it has many great memories and stories and deserves a good birthday celebration.
Don't get me wrong, the ride also feels like it's 90-years-old and gives you constant fear of sudden death with every rickety, shaky ascent and descent. It's a celebration, mitches, so expect face painting and giveaways, as well as performances by The Harlem Globetrotters and rapper Fabolous. A great way to end the weekend!
