The historic Hendrick I. Lott House, one of Brooklyn’s oldest houses, will kick off the holiday season with a free tree lighting event on Friday, Dec.6.
The event, beginning at 6:00 p.m., promises festive fun for all ages, featuring a visit from Sinterklaas (Dutch Santa) for photos, along with hot cocoa and cookies to keep the holiday spirit warm. Located at 940 East 36th Street in Marine Park, the Lott House offers a unique setting to celebrate the season, combining Brooklyn’s rich history with timeless holiday traditions.
"The tree lighting was the first event that our organization—the Friends of the Lott House—hosted. It has become the highlight of our programming and a favorite of our local community," said Alyssa Loorya, president of the Friends of the Lott House organization. "Opening the grounds of this Brooklyn landmark draws the neighborhood together—while bringing holiday festivities to South Brooklyn. And incorporating the traditional Dutch Sinterklaas instead of the more well known Santa Claus, we spotlight the Dutch heritage of the Lott family and the surrounding area."
The event is free and open to the public.
