New York Liberty Head Coach Sandy Brondello has been named the WNBA (Women's National Basketball Association) Coach of the Month for August. This monthly honor is Coach Brondello’s second of her career, the first of her Liberty tenure, and the third all-time in Liberty history since the award began in 2017.

Brondello has led the Liberty to a franchise-best 31-7 record through 38 games and the second-ever 30-plus-win season in WNBA history; surpassing her 29-win WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury team in 2014.

In August, she led New York to a league-best 9-1 record, as well as the 2023 Commissioner’s Cup Championship on August 15, securing the first championship hardware in Liberty franchise history.

Throughout the team’s 10-game regular season August slate, New York paced the WNBA in nearly every statistical category including 1st in Points Per Game (90.0); 1st in Field Goal Percentage (46.5); 1st in Rebounds Per Game (38.9); 1st in Assists Per Game (23.7); 1st in Blocks Per Game (4.4); 1st in Offensive Rating (112.2); 1st in Defensive Rating (94.5); 1st in Net Rating (17.7); and 1st in Assist-to-Turnover Ratio (1.91).
