The reigning WNBA champion New York Liberty has acquired veteran guard Natasha Cloud, 33, from the Connecticut Sun in exchange for the No. 7 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft and a 2026 future first-round pick, the team announced in a press release.
“We could not be more excited to welcome Natasha Cloud to the New York Liberty family,” said Jonathan Kolb, general manager, New York Liberty. “Tash is someone who we identified years ago as a prime fit for our team and embodies everything we look for in a player.”
Kolb added that Cloud's presence will energize the Barclays Center crowd and bolster the Liberty's chances of securing back-to-back championships.
“Tash will undoubtedly strengthen our roster on both sides of the ball as we pursue another title in 2025,” he said.
Cloud is a seasoned guard with a championship pedigree. She played eight seasons with the Washington Mystics, where she won a title in 2019, followed by a stint with the Phoenix Mercury before joining the Sun earlier this year.
Over her career, Cloud has averaged 8.6 points, 5.3 assists, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.0 steals in 286 regular-season games, 242 of which were starts. Her accolades also include the 2019 Dawn Staley Leadership Award, the 2022 WNBA Assists Leader title, and multiple All-Defensive Team selections.
The Liberty will tip off their 2025 season at home against the Las Vegas Aces on May 17 at Barclays Center.
