The Brooklyn Museum will celebrate hip-hop artist MF Doom on Halloween with the highly anticipated launch of his biogrphy "The Chronicles of DOOM: Unraveling Rap’s Masked Iconoclast" on Oct. 31.

The Brooklyn Museum will celebrate the hip-hop artist MF Doom on Oct. 31 with the launch of his biography The Chronicles of DOOM: Unraveling Rap’s Masked Iconoclast.

Written by journalist S.H. Fernando Jr. (also known as SKIZ), the book delves into the life of Daniel Dumile Jr., better known by his stage persona MF DOOM, from his rise from the Long Beach, N.Y. underground to becoming one of hip-hop's most influential figures, according to a press release.

The event, coinciding with the anniversary of MF Doom’s passing in 2020, promises an evening filled with reflection on the masked rapper’s powerful legacy.

“As an institution committed to celebrating artists across mediums who shape local and global culture, we are thrilled to host the release of S.H. Fernando Jr.’s Chronicles of DOOM at the Brooklyn Museum,” said Lauren Zelaya, director of Public Programs at the Brooklyn Museum. “MF Doom stayed true to his NY roots and utilized the power of persona to change the creative landscape of hip-hop and beyond. We’re looking forward to spotlighting his creative vision and career."

The night will begin with a live set from DJ Rob Swift, setting the tone for the celebration. Following the performance, poet and cultural critic Hanif Abdurraqib will moderate a lively discussion featuring author SKIZ, artist and illustrator LAmour Supreme and journalist Courtney Brown. The conversation will center around MF Doom’s enduring influence on music, culture, and art through his multiple personas, thought-provoking lyrics and boundary-pushing projects.

Tickets for the event, between 7:00pm 9:00pm, are $35 and includes a copy of The Chronicles of DOOM.
