The Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) has added an additional performance date to André 3000’s New Blue Sun Live In Concert as part of the Next Wave 2024 season due to overwhelming demand. The new date has been added on Saturday, October 26, 2024, featuring GRAMMY-winning multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter Meshell Ndegeocello as the special guest opener.

In November 2023, André 3000 released his first album of new material in 17 years, New Blue Sun, a solo album of spiritual jazz and transcendental flute music. Released to widespread critical acclaim, New Blue Sun became the first instrumental album to land on the Billboard Top 200 Chart and the opening track "I Swear, I Really Wanted to Make a 'Rap' Album But This Is Literally the Way the Wind Blew Me This Time," broke the record for the longest song to debut on the Billboard Hot 100. This album will be performed live at BAM’s Howard Gilman Opera House, accompanied by Carlos Niño, Surya Botofasina, Nate Mercereau, and Deantoni Parks. André 3000’s performances promise a reflective and mesmerizing musical journey.

Opener Meshell Ndegeocello explores soul, R&B, jazz, hip-hop, rock, all bound by the search for love, justice, respect, and resolution. A bass player above all else, Ndegeocello brings her melodic groove to everything she does. She has earned a Grammy award along with numerous nominations, and has played alongside legacy acts like the Rolling Stones and Madonna.

Next Wave 2024 presents an innovative slate of multidisciplinary programming that recontextualizes artists’ works for the current moment. This season features visionaries and trailblazers like Bill T. Jones, Hanif Abdurraqib, Dana Gingras, Guillermo Cacace, Tiago Rodrigues, Silkroad Ensemble with Rhiannon Giddens, Liquid Music, Modesto Flako Jimenez, American Composers Orchestra, and ONX Studio.

Tickets for both performances start at $35 and are on sale now at BAM.org.
