WHAT: Ladies' Lady: A New Musical

This weekend, experience "Ladies' Lady," a new musical about Julie DAubigny: a dueling, opera-singing, woman-wooing, bisexual woman in 17th-century France. This musical follows her early years when she caught the eye of a merchant's daughter. Romance, fighting for sport and potential arson ensue at the Vino Theater on Morgan Avenue.

The Monkey King, an Asian American restaurant with Bengali and Chinese influence in the heart of Bushwick, is celebrating the Lunar New Year with a special prix fixe multicourse dinner both this weekend and next weekend featuring TMK fan favorites and new house specialties, served family style. Enjoy the evening with live entertainment and special take-home treats to celebrate the year of the rabbit! Also, all reservations will be entered to win a bonus prize from our giveaway.

Cafe Erzulie knows how to get down. The Bed-Stuy bar, cafe and flower shop is hosting the first "A Good Jawn," party of the year, with selectors from around the world to "bless the function with energy and sound," according to the invite. This party will feature two special guests Cory Townes, Joshua Lang & The Whooligan, also know as Room Service International.

WHAT: Brooklyn Community Chorus Winter Concert

The Brooklyn Community Chorus is performing an exciting, diverse roster of contemporary and classical songs in Park Slope this Saturday. The program includes music ranging from The Beatles, to Mozart, to African-American Spirituals, to Bollywood hits and more. This winter exhibition also includes poetry readings and is sure to be an impressive, delightful community event with music that surprises and makes you think.


WHAT: Yoga and Cacao at Rise Radio -- Rooted in Love

WHEN: Jan. 21, 12:00pm-2:00pm

This is the fifth "Rooted in Love" event at Rise Radio, a local radio station in Williamsburg. The event will be focused on preparing atttendees for the new moon in Aquarius with a grounding cacao ceremony followed by yoga, a meal and sound healing by the collective community of Rise Radio, which will get your vibes right for the new year.

What is a cacao ceremony, you ask? Cacao "is an ancient, heart-opening medicine containing many antioxidants. When served with the highest intentions, it can increase circulation and blood flow (especially to the heart), calms the nervous system, encourages focus, grounding, balance and many other healing benefits," according to the invite.

Happy year of the rabbit! The Lunar New Year, which begins Jan. 22, is a major occasion for celebration in Brooklyn and Pulse Events is bringing one of the biggest Asian-American dance music artists, KSHMR, to East Williamsburg venue, Avant Gardner.

The show on Saturday will feature one of the leaders in electro house, KSHMR. American of Kashmiri-Indian descent, KSHMR broke into the scene with ‘Megalodon’ and has since released numerous explosive tracks including ‘Memories’ and ‘Burn’. KSHMR’s collaborations with industry icons include ‘Secrets’ with Tiësto and ‘Power’ with Hardwell.

WHAT: Educated Little Monsters Fundraiser - Presented by Monsta Lab & NYC Vibes

WHEN: Jan. 22, 6:00pm

A family-friendly party with a cause: Educated Little Monsters, a local grassroots arts organization, is hosting its annual fundraiser at Elsewhere in Bushwick this weekend featuring 18 performers of color to get the party started!

ELM is dedicated to providing an artistic outlet for Brooklyn's youth of color, and empowering them to be socially responsible and tuned in to the ways they can make a difference through art. The fundraising event is for ages 16 and up.


WHAT: The Craft Cocktail Experience

WHEN: Jan. 22, with seatings at 5:00pm and 8:00pm

The ever-fabulous Oui Cocktail Lounge in Flatbush presents “The Craft Cocktail Experience,” a curated tasting party with LP O'Brien from Netflix's 'Drink Masters' show. Practice your hot salsa moves with a dance buddy, and get pointers from the best instructor and party starter, Jean Franco Vergaray, this Sunday night in Williamsburg. At the party, Vergaray will give salsa instruction to anyone who wants them, and DJs will be spinning Latin music all night.
