Linden Houses Hosts First Family Day Celebration Since 2019

The event brought out hundreds of residents for a day of family-friendly fun

After a two-year hiatus due to COVID, the Linden Houses in east New York was finally able to host its annual Family Day celebration event.

The event took place on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2022, and it brought out hundreds of residents of the Brooklyn development for a day of fun for the whole family.

Among the various family-friendly activities featured at the event were two bounce houses, a rock climbing wall, as well as face painting.

The Family Day celebration also had a DJ and a clown, who both performed for the attendees at the event.

Among those who were in attendance at the event was State Senator Roxanne J. Persaud, Assembly Members Nikki Lucas and Keron Alleyne, as well as City Council Member Charles Barron.

Council Member Barron co-sponsored the event, along with the Linden Tenant Association, C+C Management, and PSA 2.

The Linden Houses says that the reason for putting on the Family Day celebration again was to bring the community together for a day of fun, especially since the yearly event had to be put on the backburner for the past couple of years.

“The purpose of the day was to bring residents together, not only with their management team and elected officials but with one another, to enjoy a nice day, break bread with their neighbors, and let their children have fun in the bouncy house!” said the Linden Houses in an email.

“The management team felt it was important to have this event this year to bring the community together and reestablish long held traditions.”
