The New York City Planning Commission today unanimously approved the River Ring rezoning proposed for the Williamsburg waterfront.
The 10 commissioners present voted favorably on the project following a series of approvals through the Cityâs land use review process, which is required to rezone a vacant industrial parcel in Williamsburg into new housing and a public park.
The project from Two Trees would build more than 1,000 new mixed-income apartments â" including at least 263 affordable units â" on a former Con Edison storage lot along River Street. The River Ring proposal would also bring a new YMCA facility and a climate-resilient waterfront park along the East River connected to the nearby Domino Park, also developed by Two Trees.
