This Saturday, Brownsville and Bedford Stuyvesant veterans will be celebrated, saluted and honored in a parade that goes from Fulton Park to Saratoga Avenue.

The Veterans Appreciation Parade Brooklyn is being held by the veterans committees on community boards 3 and 16 and local veterans organizations, and is being staffed by community members and local veterans.

The boards said the day allowed the Brownsville and Bedford-Stuyvesant communities an opportunity to pay tribute and honor their community heroes and veterans from around the city with a day of “patriotic pride in service, community, and country â€" right in the heart of Brooklyn.”

The parade begins at noon at Fulton Park at Schenectady and Fulton Aves. and will go along Fulton Street ending at I.S. 271 on Saratoga Avenue. There, there will be a military ceremony and resource fair for veterans.

The community boards said more than 20 veterans groups would march proudly in the parade and there would a special tribute to the U.S. Army NYC Recruiting Battalion, based on Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn. The parade will feature veterans who have served in the U.S. Army, soldiers currently serving, and JROTC cadets.
