New York City Councilwoman Alicka Ampry-Samuel (D-Brooklyn) is slated to be appointed by President Biden as the New York-New Jersey regional administrator for the Department of Housing and Urban Development following a glowing recommendation from the Senate Majority Leader.

A former New York City Housing Authority official, Ampry-Samuel represents a swath of central Brooklyn that includes 27 housing developments, making it the single largest concentration of public housing in the entire nation.

She was promoted for the post by Senator Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) who urged Biden to appoint Ampry-Samuel in a letter last month.

Following Sen. Chuck Schumer's recommendation, Brooklyn City Councilwoman Alicka Ampry-Samuel is slated to be appointed by President Biden as the new regional director of the federal department of Housing and Urban Development, replacing a controversial appointee of former President Trump.
