The Brooklyn marathon is making its return to the borough in 2022 with an updated route, and it seems like locals are already warming up and getting ready to run.

Registration is already open for the 10th annual event, taking place on April 24, 2022, and road runners are counting down the days, Brooklyn Eagle reports.

Rather than the former route, which went from Prospect Park, through Prospect Heights and Kensington, then down to Coney Island, the new route will start at McCarren Park and end at Prospect Park.

Runners will go from McCarren Park through Brooklyn Navy Yard, DUMBO, to Grand Army Plaza and Prospect Park, then down to Coney Island and back to the park, passing the Williamsburg, Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges along the way.

Brooklyn running clubs, including the Prospect Park Track Club, the Prospect Park Youth Running Club, the Brooklyn Triathlon Club and the Crown Heights Running Club, will operate the hydration stations along the route.

Senior advisor for recovery for the City of New York Lorraine Grillo said as the City's recovery continued, "we look forward to seeing the excitement of camaraderie and personal achievement that the Brooklyn Marathon and Half Marathon will bring to new corridors, while supporting local businesses and uplifting neighborhoods throughout the borough."
