Parks and streets across Brooklyn were alive with music, dancing, performances and, of course, delicious food this Saturday in celebration of Juneteenth -- the first time it was celebrated as a state and federal holiday.
From Williamsburg to Flatbush, people came out early and stayed out all day, sweating and smiling in the 90 degree heat and making the most of everything that's great about the borough.
At Bed-Stuy's Marcy Plaza, the Juneteenth Father's Day Biker Bash pulled in people from across the borough wanting to show off or see a range of unique motorbikes, and get into the celebrations by supporting small businesses and artists who set up at the event.
At Herbert Von King Park, hundreds of people turned out for the 12th Annual Juneteenth NYC Family Festival, which was alive with dancing, music, vendors, balloons and barbeques.
In Fort Greene, it was similar scenes with people dancing and celebrating on the streets and in the park feeling the tunes provided by a number of local DJs. Throughout the day, performances and art were on show thanks to MoCADA and St James Joy's The Soul of Brooklyn event.
Not even a slight drizzle later in the evening could dampen the mood, with dancing and parties continuing late into the night.
