An animal-loving NYPD cop and a devoted group of volunteers used everything from high-tech motion sensors and drones to old-fashioned hot dogs during their desperate week-long search for a dog who went missing in the car crash that killed his owner.

Shadow, a 2-year-old Cane Corso, somehow survived last week's blizzard before finally being spotted by NYPD Officer Kevin Long, who was able to return the pooch to the victim's grieving fiancee.
