For as long as I can remember, my mom has had an affinity for antiques. Growing up, I was brought along, sometimes willingly and sometimes not so much, to countless antique stores lining this Main Street and that Main Street along the East Coast and plenty of large markets filled with endless booths of old treasures.
While I usually did enjoy scouring the crowded cabinet shelves for interesting finds behind dusty glass and deciphering hard-to-read cursive on old postcards, it was always particularly exciting around Christmastime, when shops would often put out a tray of assorted cookies and serve small cups of warm beverages during their holiday events.
