The ascendant Democratic Socialists of America is looking to make inroads in the City Council as two-thirds of the chamber's members exit next year because of term limits.

The five-member DSA slate recently elected to the state Legislature is joining forces to begin stumping for six Council candidates on Monday, following the organization's formal, lengthy endorsement process that concluded last month.

The state lawmakers — state Sen. Julia Salazar of Brooklyn and four newcomers — will lend the organization's muscular canvassing operation to their prospective city counterparts as they vie for open seats in Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx.
