The restaurant, bar and event space, which will occupy the development’s penthouse, will be run and operated by the team behind the popular Lavender Lake bar and restaurant in Gowanus, developer Hudson Companies Inc. announced.
The forthcoming restaurant and bar, which has yet to be named, has occupancy for up to 350 people with elevator access as well as a grand external stair tower connecting the rooftop to the landscaped courtyard below. The restaurant will be housed inside a 2,000-square-foot glass structure, accompanied by a 4,000-square-foot landscaped terrace with covered areas for outdoor seating and lighting.
The rooftop features sweeping views of Midtown, Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn and “will cater to afternoon business lunches, after-work socializing, late-night fun, and elegant events,” said Adam Sober, owner of Lavender Lake.
“We are excited to bring a neighborhood-friendly vibe that has been at the core of Lavender Lake’s success to the area,” said Sober. “We intend to offer a food and drink menu that leans towards casual but also tends to our clientele’s demands of quality, craftsmanship and modern mindfulness. We expect the space to provide year-round entertainments options and be a fun amenity to our neighbors in the building, while we also build a reputation as a unique destination for the city.”
A second eatery, Latin fusion restaurant Aura Cocina, will be occupying 3,600 square feet of ground-floor space overlooking the landscaped courtyard, Hudson Companies Inc. announced. Aura Cocina will include a full bar and offer sit-down lunch and dinner options, with occasional events in the courtyard.
Stay tuned for the grand openings!
