Burger Village, an eco-friendly, organic burger restaurant, is setting up shop at the border of Fort Greene, Downtown Brooklyn and Boerum Hill. 

The family-owned company — “a dream concept and creation,” according to the four founding brothers Sam, Nick, Vick and Ravi — will take up 1,786 square feet at the base of the luxury apartment complex 33 Bond, and is expected to be up and running by the spring.

Founded in 2013, Burger Village specializes in all-natural, antibiotics- and hormone-free products foods like juicy burgers, hand-cut fries, salads, soups, shakes along with desserts. Burger lovers can stick with a traditional beef patty or get more experimental with bison, elk, boar or ostrich burgers. Additionally, each patty option has a suggested topping pairing. For example, the Village beef burgers’ recommended pairing is “California Mystery,” which includes cheddar, lettuce, tomato, roasted red peppers, guacamole and signature sauce.

Non-carnivores will also be served well with a solid selection of veggie burgers, including black bean and mushroom patties, as well as other vegan-friendly options.

Sustainable, eco-friendly practices and organic products are key to Burger Village, as the company states on its website. 

“We believe that organic is sustainable and will always be,” Burger Village states. “It does not only benefit the consumer, but it is also helpful for the environment. Our products do not come from a factory, they come from farms and dairies that are mostly family-owned-and-operated. The livestock and produces are nourished and cared for in a natural and humane way. It’s delectable, nutritious and ecological, and promotes our farmer families.”

The Fort Greene spot will be the company’s fourth location after Great Neck, Hicksville and Park Slope, joining sports club Chelsea Piers, coffee house Devocion and sandwich and fine foods shop Depanneur at 33 Bond Street.

  1. If a company is selling beef products, it is impossible to claim its sustainable. Raising cattle for consumption (both burgers and dairy),no matter where its raised is one of the biggest contributors to climate change. These guys are either ignorant or willfully trying to fool the public to make money off of what they see as a branding opportunity, which is really gross. The necessity of sustainability is of the utmost importance, and pretending to be sustainable to fool people into thinking they are doing the right thing is just wrong. Shame on these guys.
