It’s the weekend before Halloween and there are plenty of opportunities to get into some mischief in Central Brooklyn. We have compiled a list of family-friendly events that guarantee mighty spooky times! Happy haunting!

Ghouls & Gourds at Brooklyn Botanical Garden

Ghoulish fun awaits you at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden with Brussels Sprout Bowling, a Dynamite Drum Circle and to-die-for performances by Mexican brass band Banda de los Muertos and Michael Hearsts Songs for Unusual Creatures, among others. And don’t mind the rain, theyre bringing the fun inside!

Pitkin Avenue BID Halloween Parade and Harvest

The Pitkin Avenue Bid, in partnership with the Brooklyn Community Justice Center, is hosting its annual Halloween Parade and Harvest Festival including a costume contest, puppet show and pumpkin giveaway.

Bklyn Boo at City Point

Enjoy boo-gie down tunes, ghastly face painting, ghoulish balloon twists, wicked nail art and more spooky activities for ghosts and goblins! This event was initially planned as the afterparty to the Haunted Walk and Halloween Fair in Prospect Park, which was canceled due to inclement weather. But: The party must and will go in at City Point in Downtown Brooklyn.

Trilok Halloween Festival

This annual festival leaves nothing to desire for your little monsters: pony rides, bouncy castle, face painting, food and, of course, a costume parade!

PSA 3 Halloween

Police Service Area 3 is hosting a Halloween bash for the entire community. Fun activities include games, a costume contest and a teen dance competition. And, there will be free candy!

This free spooky celebration for the whole family is an all-day event and features a dance party, pumpkin pie eating contest, games, seasonal beer, cider and cocktails. Kids can take part in a costume contest during the day, and a party for the grown-ups follows at 10:00pm. The evening fun includes a midnight costume competition that rewards the winner with a grand prize: free beer for a whole year!

Halloweek at Brooklyn Cider House

Bushwick Cider House is kicking of its Halloweek festivities with an all-day scary movie marathon of classic black and white horror films like Nosferatu. Guests in costume will be rewarded with free tastes of mulled cider and candied apples. The scariest, funniest and most outrageous costumes will have a chance to win gift cards! Beginning at 8:00pm,  DJ Hard Candy will entertain the crowds with horrific tunes.

Twisted Toy Factory: Making Mischief at Brooklyn Navy Yard

Twisted Toy Factory, Making Mischief is a free, all-ages Halloween charity event that features an immersive scenery, trick-or-treating, themed activities and more.

When: Saturday, October 27, 1:00pm – 4:00pm

Musical Haunted House

The Musical Haunted House at Brooklyn Music School (BMS) is quite the Halloween affair, filled with thrills, costumes, candy and especially music. Guests will be led through BMSs spooky decorated building including a “shtick-or-treat.” Participants can also explore themed classrooms such as Zombeethoven, Glenn Ghoul, Knife at the Opera etc. Younger guests can take part in an instrument petting zoo/graveyard. Special performances include the “Scary Garcia and the Hateful Dead” and “Radiodead.”

Annual Fort Greene Park Halloween Festival Feat. The Great PUPkin

Pumpkins, pups and more!

The Fort Greene Park Halloween Festival returns on Sunday, October 28, with the annual Great PUPkin Costume Contest, a show-stopping parade filled with one creatively dressed pooch after another. This free, family-friendly event also offers a vast array of holiday activities such as a pumpkin patch, face painting and train rides.

2nd Annual Thriller Dance Party

Celebrate Halloween with a fun dance party in the Myrtle Avenue Plaza!

A DJ will kick off the festivities at 4:00pm, ending with a group dance of Michael Jacksons Thriller! There will also be self-serve face painting and photo station, giveaways and other holiday fun throughout the event!

Masquerade on Macon — A Halloween Play

What happens when the library closes and the characters in the books come to life?

The Friends of Macon Library present Masquerade on Macon: Midnight at the Library, an original stage play featuring villains, heroes and a boy’s quest to save Halloween. The show will take place right outside the library on Macon Street, at the corner of Lewis Avenue.

All Souls’ Eve at the Ides

All Souls’ Eve at The Ides 

The Wythe Hotel will be transforming The Ides Rooftop Bar into a one-stop destination for spooky concoctions and future-telling curated by Tarot Society. Enjoy specialty drinks such as Soul Vibrations or Astonishing Tales while getting your palms or tarot cards read. Music will be provided by The Avant Ghetto.
