Tompkins Ave in Bedstuy becomes a pedestrian friendly public space for mural painting, sidewalk fashion shows, arts, games, live music, food, discounts, prizes and much more
Tompkins Avenue in Bed-Stuy has gotten a new attitude!
If you haven't had a chance to stroll the southern end of the avenue over the last few months, then you have missed the explosion of new retail stores that have popped up, along with a bevy of restaurants and watering holes that made the corridor an exciting new destination for shopping, leisure and fun.
Well, if you haven't had the occasion to venture down Tompkins Ave, this Saturday will be the perfect opportunity: Bridge Street Development Corporation (BSDC) and the Tompkins Avenue Merchants Association (TAMA) will be holding their 8th Annual TAMA Summerfest on July 15, from 12:00pm - 5:00pm.
This annual community festival will be located on Tompkins Avenue between Halsey St and Gates Avenue, highlighting the unique mix of merchants along Tompkins Avenue, including fashion boutiques, coffee shops and wine merchants.
The event encourages residents to support local businesses, as they listen to live bands and DJs. There is something for everyone at this traffic-free, pedestrian zone. This event will include resources through community organizations, a children's zone, food and dancing.
Come out and experience one of the fastest burgeoning corridors of Bed-Stuy!
