Another pearl from this amazing book that I am currently reading — Building Resilience in Children and Teens: Giving Kids Roots and Wings.   As I come across amazing tidbits, I am passing them along through my blog — sort of like an e-book club.  So here is today’s pearl: The 7 Crucial C’s of Resilience.

Each C has a dedicated chapter in the book.  I highly recommend you check them out!  Here’s the list to peak your interest and get your wheels turning.

  1. Competence
  2. Confidence
  3. Connection
  4. Character
  5. Contribution
  6. Coping
  7. Control

And of course Dr. Ginsburg emphasizes that the 7 C’s are not a LIST of needs but rather a WEB of needs. In his words, an intricately interwoven web are these 7 ingredients of resilience.

Take a moment to think of your parenting style.  Are you nurturing the web of 7 C’s in your children?
