Unknown-4On Saturday, March 7, the Skylight Gallery at Restoration Plaza will debut “Poems for the Breaking of Spells,” an exhibition of recent works by esteemed artist and curator Ché Baraka. This exhibition marks the artists’ first solo exhibition in ten years and is curated by fellow artist and gallerist Danny Simmons.

Baraka’s paintings are informed by the millennia old tradition of creating objects that serve as conduits for spiritual power. By employing an iconography that seeks to interpret the symbols, themes and subject matter that underpin the transcendent, his works invite the viewer to collaborate int he rediscover of the greater Self.

“Poems for the Breaking of Spells” is on exhibit March 7 – May 23, 2015. Opening reception will be on March 7, from 6:00pm – 9:00pm, 1368 Fulton Street, 3rd fl. Gallery hours are Wed – Fri, 11:00am – 6:00pm; and Saturday, 1:00pm – 6:00pm.
