Website-banner-704x240In honor of Black History Month, on February 4, Weeksville Heritage Center, The Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute (CCADI) and afriPOP! celebrated at Weeksville the opening of the exhibit, After Afropolitan— a tribute to Africa’s vanguard legacy and a look at unchartered territories of experience and imagination in the African Diaspora.

The exhibition asks, how has “Afropolitan” crystallized aspects of our genius? What aspects of our experiences fall outside the Afropolitan gaze? And, of course what comes next, After Afropolitan?

Featuring the work of Cosmo Whyte, Dennis R. Darkeem, Glendalys Medina, Ifeatuanya Chiejina, Imani Shanklin Robert, Miatta Kawinzi, Murktarat Yussuff, Salym Fayad, Selam Bekele, Valerie Piraino, Vaughn Spann, Aisha Cousins, Delphine Fawundu, Delphine Diallo, Awol Erizku, Derrick Adams, Sana Musasama, Sol Sax, Nontsikelelo Mutiti, Danny Simmons, Simone Leigh, Jamilla Okubo, Folasade Adeoso, Laolu Senbajo and Zina Saro Wiwa.
