On Saturday, January 18, Restoration Dance Theatre and Restoration Youth Arts Academy in Bedford-Stuyvesant presented “Deeply Rooted,” an annual commemoration of the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Nelson Mandela at Long Island University’s Kumble Theater.

Restoration dancers included Deidre Brock, Sequoia Dorsey-Harris, Na’ilah Harris, Shawn Hawkins, Brianna Henry, Maleek Joseph, Faith Mondesire, Asyha Mosely, Saut Nekhet, Shoniah Torres, Nekele Alexis, Jazzlyn Bennett, Tianna Smith, Hadiya Hyppolite and Keturah Stephen.

Choreographers included Karen Thornton-Daniels, Maleek Joseph, Germaul Barnes, Lindia Dugue, Nathan Trice, Shawn Hawkins, Ronald K. Brown, Michelle J. Smith, Ade Chike, Christopher “Sweat” White and Keisha James.
