Applications for Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso’s Fiscal Year 2024 Capital Funding have been announced and are now available.

Each year, the five borough presidents can administer capital funding to various qualified projects as part of NYC’s budget process. The funds are normally utilized to make improvements throughout the borough — either to improve existing projects or to create new ones.

Eligible applicants for the funding include schools, hospitals, streets, parks, housing projects, nonprofit organizations, and more.

Reynoso says that it is important that all eligible parties throughout the borough apply for the funding so that crucial projects can be completed to better the lives of Brooklyn residents.

“We’ve got to get the word out that funding is available to our city agencies, public schools, nonprofits, and cultural institutions who have exciting projects in mind to benefit Brooklynites,” said Reynoso.

“The applications we receive help us understand Brooklyn’s priorities and needs. Last year, we made history-making investments in our public hospitals to address the maternal mortality crisis in our borough, and this year, we’re gearing up to spread that love and support all across Brooklyn. If you or anyone you know has a project that might be eligible for capital or discretionary funding, now is the time to see what the Office of the Borough President can do for you.”

Last year, Reynoso was the first ever borough president to allot the entire fiscal year’s capital funding to one cause. The $45 million in FY23 funds was allocated to three public hospitals across Brooklyn to improve maternal healthcare.

This year, Reynoso announced that he plans to allocate a portion of this year’s funding toward helping local nonprofits to buy permanent spaces to operate out of.

The deadline for eligible organizations to submit their applications will be on Feb. 23, 2023, at 5:00pm.

Applications for all city entities, nonprofits, and cultural organizations can be found online here.
