Local cafe City League Coffee Roasters just debuted its first-ever retail location in Bay Ridge on Jan. 14.

In celebration of the occasion, the cafe hosted a grand opening event with limited edition coffees, as well as an array of delectable baked goods.

City League Coffee Roasters was started by Dane Demko and his wife, Lindsay, in a Brooklyn garage back in 2018.

Before creating City League, Demko had been serving coffee through numerous non-profits in Sunset Park. Demko and Lindsay say they made the decision to start their own coffee roasting company to continue to serve their community.

Now out of the garage, City Coffee Roasters will be able to serve the community at large with a retail space that is 1,500 square feet, offers 50+ seating indoors and outdoors, and will provide a space for various uses — such as work, studying, special events, etc.

“We have always wanted to have a physical space and began developing the concept for this shop on day one,” said Demchak.

“We spent years building a local community foundation through our coffee and look to continue to expand upon that.”

The cafe will offer a variety of brewed coffee and specialty drinks that are seasonally rotated. Included on their menu are rare and exotic coffees that have been sourced directly from small coffee farms, a signature Horchata Cold Brew that is made using a unique horchata recipe from a local taco business, and more.

In addition, the local cafe says that it will be partnering with local community businesses and groups — which includes having a menu of treats and a retail section that is fully dedicated to local small businesses — in an effort to continue building relationships with the community in the new retail space.

“The shop builds a bridge between the incredibly culturally vibrant and thriving community of South Brooklyn and the small coffee bean farms we work with in Colombia, Costa Rica, Peru, and Guatemala to name a few. Roasting the world’s greatest coffee is a goal, but the most important goal is to be a long-standing presence of good for our community,” said Demchak.

“Our new shop is a hub for people to rest, be at peace, and feel welcomed and loved while showcasing what makes our neighborhood so special. It’s an honor to serve each and every one of our customers and see our City League family grow. We cannot wait to celebrate this long-anticipated milestone together!”

The grand opening will be taking place at City League Coffee Roasters, which is located at 6808 4th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11220.
