Fort Greene grocery staple Greene Grape Provisions reopened this month after unexpectedly closing in August, reports The Brownstoner.

The store's closing came quickly after uncovering a structural issue with the building at 767 Fulton St. that prompted the Department of Buildings to issue a vacate order.

A section of the rear wall had separated from the three-story brick building and was in a “severe state of disrepair,” according to the DOB. Floors on two levels in the rear were sagging and sloping down towards the building's rear wall.

Many community members took to Instagram to praise the store's reopening.

As one of Fort Greene's most expensive grocery options, Greene Grape Provisions has solidified its place as a Brooklyn food stop. The business began as a wine shop, The Greene Grape, and expanded its storefront up and down Fulton Street to, at various times, include a cafe and ice creamery.

Now, the always-busy storefront carries organic produce and has a butcher counter, prepared foods and a cheese counter. Everything is back in place as if the store never closed.
