Nearly 5,000 adults and almost 800 kids in Santa costumes, ugly Christmas sweaters and footie pajamas laced up their running shoes last Saturday, Dec. 10, in Prospect Park to participate in the New York Road Runners Frosty 5K. Runners also had the option to run a one-mile course.

The festive race raised money to benefit NYRR youth and community programs.

All of the proceeds from the adult race went toward free, year-round NYRR youth and community programs, including Rising New York Road Runners, which serves over 100,000 students from ages 2 to 18 in New York City and nationwide.

Rising New York Road Runners is a free youth fitness program that helps kids develop the ability, confidence, and desire to be physically active for life.

"It's a really festive race and it kicks off our winter running season," Marissa Muñoz, Senior Vice President, Community Impact, NYRR, said.
