For the first time in 30 years, Poly Prep Country Day School's varsity football team is hoisting the championship trophy.

"It's always a great feeling to win a championship. I am happy for all of the members of the team and their families,” said Jerell Jones, coach of Poly Prep’s Blue Devils.

The dominant final comes after an undefeated season.

“It is not easy to win and finish an undefeated season. I couldn't be prouder. I am especially happy for all the seniors, and I commend them for their hard work and leadership throughout the season," Jones said.

With more than 15 years of coaching experience, this was Jones’ first year coaching at Poly Prep.

"I believe in developing the whole child," Jones said about his coaching philosophy.

"Creating a program with an environment that fosters their cognitive, physical, social and emotional well-being will be my priority. This philosophy encompasses the full scope of my student-athletes development and ensures that each team member reaches their fullest potential."

A New York native, Jones coached at Nyack High School in Rockland County previous to Poly Prep.

This year, Poly Prep is proud to report a highly successful 2022 athletic season with the girls’ varsity volleyball, soccer, and tennis and boys’ soccer all reaching the finals or semifinals.
