The dance duo that receives the most votes will be crowned our first-ever Student Dance Champions and their dance school will win $5,000 to provide a year of free dance education and training to five children in New York City. Renowned political activist and scholar Angela Y. Davis graces the BAM stage for an intimate conversation focused on the new edition of her classic memoir, An Autobiography.
An activist at the cutting edge of the Black Liberation, feminist, queer, and prison abolitionist movements, Davis gives a powerful account of a life lived in struggle, from her childhood in Birmingham, Alabama, to one of the most significant political trials of the century: from her political activity in a New York high school to her work with the U.S. Communist Party, the Black Panther Party, and the Soledad Brothers; from the faculty of the Philosophy Department at UCLA to the FBI's list of the Ten Most Wanted Fugitives; to her work for abolitionist feminism today.

What: Brooklyn Navy Yard’s Wallabout Wonderland Holiday Market

The Navy Yard’s fifth annual Wallabout Wonderland Holiday Market, which will open its doors on Dec. 3, is showcasing more than 80 Brooklyn-based small businesses and independent artisans. The extensive list of makers has shoppers covered for every gifting impulse, whether for loved ones, foodies, fashionistas, homebodies, outdoorsy adventurers, music buffs, gamers or dogs.
New this year, the Navy Yard is partnering with The Lay Out, a Brooklyn-based community equity and justice organization, so shoppers can ‘buy Black’ from 30 Black-owned, Brooklyn-based merchants.
On Dec. 3, visitors can rival the North Pole elves and create their own unique, heartfelt presents with the help of several hands-on drop-in classes. Present-making workshops include jewelry making with the Brooklyn STEAM Center, holiday wreath making with Fleur Elise Bkln and holiday card making with The Christmus Corner.

The Wyckoff House Museum is hosting an outdoor, socially-distanced day full of craft activities, tree lighting and a special visit from St. Nick, who will arrive on horseback around 2:30pm.
St. Nick will tell the traditional tale of The Bakers Dozen and children are invited to sign the Red Book. Sip hot cider, learn and play colonial games, create a holiday pomander, decorate a Dutch clog for Sinterklaas and dress the tree for the tree lighting that will close the day as the sun goes down.
What: An Intimate Conversation with Kevin Richardson

Join myBKlife as it welcomes Kevin Richardson, one member of The Exonerated 5, to the myBKlife store. Richardson was one of the five black and Latino teens that were wrongly convicted of assaulting a female runner, and served sentences ranging from six to 12 years. All later had their charges cleared after someone else confessed to the crime.
During the talk, he will share about his life and all that he’s been able to accomplish. Music by DJ Squid and small bites will be provided.
SUNDAY
What: Birdwatching: First Sunday Outings
Where: Audubon Center, Prospect Park, Brooklyn, NY

Join the Brooklyn Bird Club and Prospect Park Alliance on the first Sunday of each month from September to December in 2022 in search of dozens of species that visit the park through all seasons. During the walk, guests will learn about the different habitats in Prospect Park and why they are important for all types of birds.
Please bring binoculars. This outing is at an easy pace with stops to observe birds. A different route through the park may be taken each week. There may be steps, slight inclines, and grass and dirt paths with exposed roots. The walk will cover approximately 1.5-2 miles.

Where: Fort Greene Park on the corner of Myrtle Avenue and St Edwards Street, Brooklyn, NY

Gather with neighbors at the northwest corner of Fort Greene Park, near the Myrtle Avenue and St Edward’s Street entrance to enjoy free hot cocoa, live holiday music, letter writing to Santa and lighting the big Christmas tree. Don’t forget to bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate to the Myrtle Ave Toy Drive, which will benefit families at Fort Greene’s Ingersoll and Whitman Houses.
