Next month, The Kings Theatre will serve as the first stop on a nationwide tour celebrating Aretha Franklin, reports The Brooklyn Paper. The iconic Flatbush performance venue will kick off a 21-city tour paying Respect to one of America’s most beloved artists.

For three nights, from Oct. 6-8, the R.E.S.P.E.C.T. concert experience honoring the Queen of Soul who died in 2018 will take over Flatbush. The concert will feature both Aretha's music and a narrative retelling of her iconic life.

"R.E.S.P.E.C.T is an electrifying tribute celebrating the music of the legendary Aretha Franklin. This concert experience takes audiences on a journey of love, tragedy, courage, and triumph. Starring a live band and supreme vocalists, come experience a night of music by one of the greatest artists of all time," states the concert page.

Set lists will feature many of Franklin’s most well-known hits, like “Natural Woman,” “I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You),” and of course “Respect.” And the production team undertook a nationwide search to find the person most able to embody the legend herself, ultimately deciding on Brooklyn’s own Trejah Bostic to fill in Aretha’s shoes.

“From talent to production, this show is about to be epic,” Bostic said excitededly on Instagram.

The show is being directed by Broadway actress Christina Sajous, while musical performances are being led by Darnell White. Bostic will be supported by a coterie of backup singers and a full band.

Tickets are still available here. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., show starts at 8.
