On Tuesday, August 9, the Brooklyn Public Library's Central Library launched a Vinyl Lending Library, an all-new collection of vinyl records that patrons can check out for up to 3 weeks with their library card.

The Vinyl Lending Library is the newest edition to the Library’s musical collections and features more than 400 selections across a wide variety of genres. Patrons can listen to records in the new listening stations, complete with instructions on how to use record players.

To complement the new vinyl collection, BPL will host August Lunch Beats in the lobby of Central Lobby where staff will spin records on August 11, 18, and 25 at 12:00noon; and DJ Face Control who will spin at 7:00pm on August 30.

Additionally, coming this fall, BPL will offer programs on DJing, audio production, sampling, and music coding.

BPL offers a wide range of musical performances including our Classical Interludes series, partnerships and performances with the Met Opera and Young Composers Festival and dance parties on the Central Library plaza. Patrons can also borrow musical instruments and over 17,000 pieces of sheet music or use their library cards to reserve a recording studio at Central Library.
