Bookoff, Japan's largest buy, sell, trade store specializing in Japanese goods has come to Brooklyn.

The first Bookoff store opened in Sagamihara City, Kanagawa, Japan in 1990. At the time, second-hand bookstores in Japan were "unwelcoming and unfriendly," according to the store's website, so founder Takashi Sakamoto set out to create the opposite with his store.

Ten years later, the first New York store opened, and 22 years after that, the latest of the incredibly unique stores has found its home in Sunset Park.

Located at 934 3rd Ave. inside Industry City's Japan Village, Bookoff offers residents a place to explore and immerse themselves in a new culture or feel right at home without ever leaving the borough.

Bookoff staff member A. Yonemoto writes on bookoffusa.com that the team "wanted to deliver the culture of our home country to those who are trying various challenges overseas."

The latest location is the continuation of this wish: "Anyone from kids to adults can come and enjoy and discover... What we hope to do in the future is to keep spreading culture," said Bookoff Sales Associate Kevin Mayorga.

Bookoff Brooklyn is now open to all, from 11:00am to 7:00pm, every day of the week, on the second floor of Japan Village in Sunset Park.
