In the headlines:

A 27-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot at the Broadway Junction subway station on Sunday night, amNY reports. Police said no arrests have yet been made following the shooting, which occurred around 10:30pm on the platform for the L line at the station.Police sources told amNY the victim and shooter got into an argument while waiting on the platform for a Canarsie-bound train, when the shooter pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the chest.

A man accused of stabbing a 20-year-old woman at an East New York subway station has struck again, stabbing a 77-year-old woman, according to police. The unprovoked attack unfolded just after 8 a.m. Tuesday at the Crescent Street subway station, according to police. The man came up behind the elderly woman as she was walking in the station and stabbed her with an unknown sharp object, police said. The woman was sent to the hospital and is in stable condition, police said. The man, who did not say anything to the victim during the attack, fled the station, police said.

A woman’s dismembered torso was found inside a shopping cart in Brooklyn early Thursday, cops said. A passerby made the disturbing discovery around 1:45 a.m. at the corner of Pennsylvania and Atlantic avenues in Cypress Hills, authorities said. The man went to push the cart when he spotted a bag inside, looked inside and saw the torso — which was missing a head, arms and legs, according to police. He then called 911, cops said. The woman’s identity was not immediately known.

The head of the MTA is sounding off after a man accused of smearing feces on a woman in a random attack at a Bronx subway station and who is facing charges in at least three other incidents is back on the streets. “I’m not a criminal justice expert, but I don’t understand how someone who commits this kind of assault – which was violent, horribly victimizing a transit rider – can just walk free even when he has four other open cases against him, including two other transit assaults and a hate crime charge,” MTA Chair and CEO Janno Lieber said. “It defies common sense.” Frank Abrokwa, 37, was arraigned and released in the feces case Wednesday, only to be promptly turned over to Brooklyn detectives who recognized him as the suspect wanted for spiting on a Jewish man and making bias statements in Crown Heights.
