Three people were assaulted in a seemingly random attack on a subway train in Brooklyn, and police are hoping surveillance video will lead to arrests.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 18, 2021, on a Manhattan bound J train approaching the Kosciusko Street subway station.

The victims were an unknown woman, a 34-year-old man, and a 29-year-old man. The 34-year-old, Michael, spoke to Eyewitness News and said the violence was sparked when the unruly group focused on a woman looking at her phone.

"I had my headphones in, and this is new York and I did what everybody else does, I tried to ignore as best as possible," he said. "The problem started when they started attacking a woman in front of me."
