A worker at a Brooklyn deli was shot and killed during an attempted robbery at the shop Tuesday evening, police said.

The deadly incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. inside the Flatbush Deli Corp. store at the intersection of Flatbush Avenue and Caton Avenue in Prospect Lefferts Gardens, according to police. As the armed robber tried to steal cash from the register, 20-year-old Fedhi Moosa defended himself.

The gunman then opened fire and a bullet struck the young worker, Abdul Ghaffar Nasser of the Alliance of Yemeni American Business said.

“The human instinct kicked in. He was trying to defend himself and defend his store. The suspect just turned around and shot him right in the head,” Nasser said.
