Overall, crime is up in East New York and in Brooklyn as a whole.

There has been an almost 45% increase in crime reported to East New York’s 75th Precinct during the week November 22 to November 28, compared to the same period last year.

There have been 87 incidents reported, including robbery, felony assault, burglary, grand larceny and grand larceny auto. During the same two-week period last year, there were 60 incidents reported, including one rape and ten robberies.

Looking at the 28-day cycle, there has been a 34.6% increase in incident reports this year on last.

There have been 25 murders and 54 rapes reported this year in the neighborhood, compared to 25 murders and 62 rapes by this time last year.

The most common incident reported over the week-long period was grand larceny, with 27 reports of the crime. That is 14 more than reported during the same period last year.

On November 30, the 75th Precinct tweeted that officers had arrested a man who had tried to lure a 12-year-old girl into his car. In later reports, the police said the man had been pleasing himself in front of the girl as he ordered her into his car.

Across Brooklyn:

Across the borough, there have been 575 incidents reported between November 22 and November 28, according to NYPD’s CompStat, including two murders and four rapes Brooklyn North and one murder and four rapes in Brooklyn South. There were 67 robberies and 110 felony assaults reported across Brooklyn.

A Queens man has been accused of trying to lure a preteen girl into his car as she walked home from school in Brooklyn, cops said Tuesday. The 12-year-old victim was near the intersection of Essex St. and Dumont Ave. in East New York about 2:25 p.m. Monday when she was confronted by Verlon Thomas, 36, who was sitting in his vehicle, police said. He offered her a free ride home, then ordered her to “get into my car” as he pleasured himself in front of her, cops said.

An 18-year-old was shot in cold blood while trying to make a living. On Wednesday, the father of the Brooklyn teenager gunned down inside his family’s bodega spoke out. Zayid Muthana is fighting for his life, as police search for the man who shot him in the head, CBS2’s Jessica Moore reported. New surveillance video shows the moment the teenager was gunned down in cold blood inside M&M Grocery on Nostrand Avenue in East Flatbush on Saturday night. “I want to talk about my son, Zayid. He’s a good kid,” Fahd Muthana said.

A local bike shop is reaching out to the community for help after it was broken into twice in the last month. Bed-Stuy Bike Shop, which is found on Fulton Street in Restoration Plaza, lost thousands of dollars in damages and stolen property after an Oct. 28 break in and was broken into a second time only a few weeks later, according to a GoFundMe. The business, which has been in Bed-Stuy for two years, is hoping to raise $15,000.

A thief took a yellow school bus on a wild joyride through Brooklyn Thursday afternoon, ramming it into several vehicles to try and escape police officers surrounding him. The crazed pursuit began shortly before 3 p.m. near the Broadway Junction subway station in East New York, when police spotted the bus moving erratically and tried to stop it. As the driver tried to flee the cops, he crashed into several vehicles. Video posted on TikTok shows the bus heading north on Georgia Ave., toward Atlantic Ave., with cops running after it.
