Eric Adams Announces Mayoral Transition Team Leadership

Mayor-elect Eric Adams has announced the leadership of his transition team as he gets set to enter City Hall on Jan. 1.

Adams was elected to the post on Nov. 2 and is set to become the 110th mayor of New York City and only the second Black mayor in the city’s history, and the first New York native to be elected since Rudy Giuliani.

Adams said that on day one, his administration “will be prepared to tackle the multiple crises facing New York, ready to fight crime, COVID, economic uncertainty and inequality while renewing the spirit of our great city.”

“Over the coming weeks, my transition team will turn my policy goals into actionable plans, recruit and vet talented candidates for senior positions, and absorb input from thought leaders, experts and everyday New Yorkers.”

The team will be led by United Way of New York City CEO and President Sheena Wright and nine co-chairs who Adams say represent the breadth of diversity and talent in New York City, including top leaders from the worlds of government, labor, business and advocacy. Katie Moore is executive director of the transition and Meaghan Brown is chief operating officer.

Adams has also launched a website for applicants wanting to join his administration.

Transition Chair Sheena Wright said Adams had a clear vision for New York, and it was the team’s job to ensure he had “the tools to realize his goal of a safer, fairer, more prosperous city.”

“Over the next seven weeks, we will task a dozen committees and dozens of committed experts and advocates with the essential work of preparing the Adams Administration to deliver for New Yorkers.”

Co-chair Ford Foundation president Darren Walker said he was humbled and honored to serve and do his part to ensure the our city was successful under the leadership of the new mayor.

"I look forward to working with my co-chairs and the broader transition team to identify the highest level of leaders who will be committed to making New York City a place where there is less inequality and more opportunity for all New Yorkers."
