If creating your dream ice cream to benefit your community nonprofits sounds too good to be true, we have some good news for you.

In an effort to make this giving season even sweeter, Brooklyn ice cream store The Social and the Brooklyn Community Foundation have teamed up to launch a new ice cream flavor with its proceeds going to Brooklyn nonprofits serving the local community.

Now through November 14, anyone can submit their idea for a new ice cream flavor (including the name and ingredients) that celebrates the generosity of Brooklyn’s communities.

Proceeds will benefit Brooklyn Community Foundation’s Brooklyn Gives campaign, which aims to raise $1 million for local nonprofits in partnership with the global Giving Tuesday movement.

The winning flavor will be unveiled on Giving Tuesday, November 30, and will be available for purchase at The Social’s Prospect Heights store through the end of December.

The winning contestant will receive two free pints of Brooklyn’s newest, most generous ice cream, a The Social t-shirt, a $100 Brooklyn Gives gift card to donate to the nonprofits of their choice, and the pride and joy of having created and named a flavor for years to come, Brooklyn Community Foundation says.

“Local nonprofits have been lifelines throughout the COVID-19 crisis, and now it’s our time to give back!” the foundation said, adding it was important for Brooklyn locals to give where they live.
