A Brooklyn man mowed down by a hit-and-run driver while trying to cross the Bruckner Expressway was visiting the Bronx to pay his respects at a friendâs memorial service, his grieving mother told the Daily News.
Jamel Boydâs mother knew something was wrong when the 33-year-old didnât call her to check in Saturday â" something heâd regularly do when he got home for the night.
âHe was always the type of person to call and let you know he was OK,â Boydâs mother, Thomasina Boyd, 54, told the Daily News.
